Hey I’m Jaz, the Designer and Founder of Sea Spell. I’m so happy to introduce my label and tell you about Sea Spell!
What do I design?
Textile prints inspired by oceans & coastlines from around the world, presented on luxury yoga wear.
Who I design for?
Sea Spell girls are playful, mischievous, bold and strong, just like the ocean. Weather you do yoga, weight training, run or just live in leggings, my wish is to brighten your days with visions of tropical holidays & adventures on the sea.
Why Sea Spell when there are so many other brands out there?
My Prints :
With so much fast fashion & seen-it-before prints out there, I place a lot of importance on originality. Every Sea Spell print is crafted with a story behind it. I want to delight everyone who looks at my art and inspire my girls to feel good about themselves when they’re wearing my pieces.

I also spend a lot of time perfecting a pattern so that it will flatter legs and body, making someone look a little taller or more slimline can be created with shapes, colours and trickery or the eye. Something I loved learning in Fashion Design College.
My Fabric :
I’ve spent many years researching & testing the highest quality materials for my products and using eco-friendly options wherever possible. The fabrics are durable, soft, easy care and printed with quality inks.
Me and my service :
I’m a solo business owner, and everything in my business is pretty much handled and created by me. I think having your own business makes you super appreciative of your fans & customers, and I never want to disappoint anyone or do anything that would damage what I’ve created. I treat everyone how I’d like to be treated – with respect, sincerity and kindness.

The inspiration behind my art and why I love it :
Sea Spell prints are lighthearted with a beachy theme. Growing up by the beautiful beaches of Australia, nature and marine life has has always been special to me and influenced my work. I could stare into rock pools for hours taking note of colours, shapes & textures of sea life.
Colours which remind me of tropical holidays and light up my heart. I’ve tried to be a “moody dark floral” designer, but always go back to the fun of cheeky seahorses &
I’m also inspired by Art Deco, Japanese and Pacific art, Art Nouveau, vintage Disney art, abstract art, and vintage posters.
The inspiration behind activewear :
Another perk of being an Aussie is the outdoorsy lifestyle we live. It’s contagious!
I live a healthy and active lifestyle, so when I was ready to start a clothing brand a few years ago, it made sense to create an activewear line (you can still check it out here). However my pieces weren’t suitable to print on, and I longed to mix my print & pattern art with fashion.
I love leggings like everyone. They’re just the comfiest, and the perfect canvas for my patterns to shine, as well as challenge my fashion skills by creating flattering, strategic prints to make women’s legs look their best.
What is my design process like?
Once I get an idea, I usually do the sketch in a notebook or start developing them on the computer from scratch. Sometimes I sketch or paint the motifs – or an entire artwork – which I get professionally digitised so I can make into a repeating pattern digitally.
It’s very creative of course, but there’s some mathematical calculations for the repeat to work correctly.
If you were a fly on the wall in my office, you’d see post-it’s, pantone colourbooks, notepads, sketches, print paintbrushes, teacups and dark chocolate. Check out this video I made, showing my office and behind the scenes of designing.
How & where are my products made?
I send my pattern artwork to my legging manufacturers who are in America and Canada. They print & make the leggings in your size, and ship it directly to you.
As mentioned, most of my pieces are made to order (especially for you!), others I have multiple quantities in stock. There will be an option noted next to my products if the two options are available.

What’s next?
I’d love to expand my designs to more clothing, homewares and wallpaper! As well as collaborate with other creatives on surface design projects.
